Grace Geyer, a Duke-bound senior at Oaks Christian School in California, placed second at the Marmonte League finals by covering the 3-mile layout in 17:59.86 at Agoura High, helping the Lions capture the first league title since winning the Frontier League in 2005 with a 27-43 victory against Newbury Park High. Geyer improved from finishing sixth at last year's league finals in 18:11.7.
