TOXC Alumni Tracker - 2010 Wk 6
Published by
It's hard to believe this is already the 6th weekend of the college cross country season. Today we saw five TOXC alumni in college action in three states.
At the Pomona Pitzer Invitational, Evan Hillman ('09) of Occidental, Andrew Snyder ('09) of UC Irvine and DJ Smithers ('10) of Chapman both competed in the Men's 8k race. Evan turned in a time of 31:34 finishing 135th, DJ ran a time of 30:13 coming in 118th, and Andrew Snyder finished 42nd in 27:23. UC Irvine got onto the podium with a second place finish to CS San Marcos. (Results)
Meanwhile in South Bend Indiana, Allie Lopez ('09) and her UCLA team were competing at the Notre Dame Invitational. Allie finished 188th in a time of 19:31 and her UCLA team was 12th in a field of 24 which included many of the top ranked teams in the country. (Results)
Finally, Sean Gildea ('09) and his Colorado School of Mines team traveled to Louisville Kentucky for the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic. Despite rumors to the contrary (or my mistaken reporting), Sean's 19th birthday was today, and he celebrated it by running a blazing 8k PR of 24:25 to finish 30th in the field. The Orediggers placed second to the host Louisville squad in a field of (*gasp*) 38 teams! (Results)
Next weekend we hope to see DJ Smithers at the Vanguard Invitational in Costa Mesa, Andrew Snyder at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, and maybe even a showing by Andrew Garai ('07) of Humbolt State at the Gator Invitational in San Francisco. Come back right here next week to see how it all turns out.
And on a final note, here is a video interview of Kevin Joerger that was posted on the LMU team website which I thought some of you might be interested in. He will be returning to action at the Pre-Nationals Meet in Indiana on the 16th.
